Chronic fatigue leaves people who were once active unable to leave their houses. It can leave people unable to do the careers they worked hard for or pushing themself through a working day to be left with no energy for themselves.
Burnout is when an individual takes on more than their energy allows meaning that eventually they have to stop and recuperate perhaps reassessing the pace they were going at before.
The two can look very similar but for someone living with chronic fatigue it can feel so confusing-even when they take their foot off the pedal it seems like their body cannot get through the day for simple tasks that once felt so simple.
It’s this misunderstanding and the fact that it is invisible to others that can add to the exhaustion. Medical professionals often do not have time to unpick the reasons behind this condition and being an advocate for your health is important yet feels challenging when basic tasks feel difficult.
I offer a space for you to be heard and to work together to soothe your nervous system through talking therapy and gentle shifts and habit changes guiding yourself back to your body-tuning in and realising when you are in fight or flight vs rest and digest. Send me a message if any of this resonates and you would like to work together. I offer 1to1 therapy and chronic health support groups.
