Postnatal Trauma and Birth Trauma Counselling Online UK
Moving into parenthood is a total shift in how we see ourselves, our bodies, our minds, and our relationships. It is one of the most monumental transitions an individual can experience.  Birth trauma counselling can help.
Whether you are navigating a difficult birth, a distressing neonatal stay, or postpartum struggles, I provide specialist online postnatal and birth trauma and counselling across the UK. This virtual support brings a safe, trauma-informed clinical space directly into the comfort and security of your own home, removing the anxiety of travel and allowing you to heal in your own safe environment.

Birth Trauma Counselling| Processing NICU Experiences, Medical Trauma, and Postpartum Anxiety Remotely

NICU Experiences Counselling

If your baby spent time in a neonatal unit, your journey into parenthood did not begin the way you had hoped or planned. Spending days or weeks in the NICU is a uniquely challenging, hyper-vigilant experience that can deeply impact your mental well-being, your family dynamics, and your early bond with your baby.
Becoming a parent is an immense identity shift under normal circumstances; entering it under the sterile, high-stress conditions of a neonatal ward changes the landscape completely. I offer a dedicated space to process this less typical journey, helping you navigate the complex emotions of the NICU experience so you can move forward and thrive.

Birth Trauma Counselling

Birth can be a chaotic, frightening, and unpredictable experience. For many, it involves rapid medical interventions, emergency caesareans, a terrifying feeling of losing control, or situations where you felt your consent was ignored.
This type of medical trauma leaves deep emotional and psychological scars. Navigating the demands of a newborn is challenging enough, but doing so while carrying the weight of a negative birth experience can feel impossible. Online trauma counselling is a vital act of self-compassion, a private space to safely process what happened, quiet your nervous system’s alarm responses, and begin to heal.

Postpartum Anxiety/Depression Counselling

Parenthood is a rollercoaster of contrasting emotions: joy, fear, anxiety, deep sadness, anger, and sheer exhaustion. During matrescence (the psychological identity shift into motherhood), hormones fluctuate wildly while you are simultaneously keeping a vulnerable little being alive. Partners face their own version of this transition, known as patrescence.
If the initial rush of visitors has faded and you are feeling lonely, disconnected from your baby, or more distant from your partner due to a postpartum “communication gap,” please know that you are not alone.

My birth didn't go to plan but my baby is healthy. Why am I still struggling?

This is one of the most common forms of secondary trauma.  A healthy baby does not automatically erase a traumatic, disempowering, or frightening birth experience.  If you felt helpless, unseen, or feared for your safety or the safety of your baby during labour, that imprints on your nervous system a trauma.  Your feelings are valid, and a healthy outcome does not erase your right to heal from a scary experience.

We do not simply force you to retell the story over and over to relieve the panic.  Using Transactional Analysis and trauma focused principles, we look at how that experience is still living in your body today-such as hyper vigilance, flashbacks, or feeling disconnected from your body.  We work gently to unload the trauma response so the memory loses its painful, physiological grip on your present life.

Your physical and emotional safety is my priority. Because online somatic tracking and trauma work take place from your home, we establish deep grounding techniques right from our first session. We move at a pace that respects your nervous system, ensuring you always feel contained, anchored, and in absolute control of the screen environment.
