Hi, I’m Ailie.
I offer fertility counselling for those navigating fertility challenges, pregnancy loss, and reproductive trauma who are looking for a space to feel understood, supported, and less alone in what they’re carrying.
Many of the people who undertake fertility counselling with me describe feeling as though they are coping on the outside while internally feeling overwhelmed, anxious, isolated, or emotionally exhausted. Therapy offers a space where all of that can be acknowledged without pressure to minimise it, stay positive, or keep going alone.
I am particularly drawn to this work because fertility challenges and reproductive loss can be profoundly isolating experiences. They often affect far more than your reproductive journey, impacting your sense of self, relationships, confidence, and hopes for the future. I believe people deserve a space where the complexity of these experiences can be spoken about openly and compassionately.
I am a BACP-registered psychotherapist, a member of the British Infertility Counselling Association (BICA) working towards accreditation, and have completed specialist training in infant loss and perinatal support through the Foundation for Infant Loss. I have worked for over ten years with families and parents from diverse backgrounds in an Education setting and in the charity sector. I bring this depth of experience to my counselling work.
My core psychotherapy training is in Transactional Analysis (TA). TA helps us understand the patterns, beliefs, and ways of relating that develop throughout life. Together, we can explore how these patterns may influence the way you cope with uncertainty, navigate grief and loss, respond to self-blame, or manage the strain that fertility challenges can place on relationships.
My work is trauma-informed, with a focus on helping you feel emotionally supported through experiences such as IVF, miscarriage, baby loss, fertility uncertainty, and the impact these can have on your wellbeing and sense of identity.
I offer sessions online across the UK, including Scotland, England, Wales, and Northern Ireland, as well as in-person counselling in Edinburgh.
