You may look like you’re coping on the outside…
The one who keeps going. The one others rely on. The one who pushes through, adapts, and carries on, often without anyone realising how much you’re holding.
But underneath, you may be living with fertility struggles, baby loss, postnatal identity shifts, chronic illness, trauma or the emotional impact of difficult medical experiences.
Hi, I’m Ailie. I’m a BACP-registered psychotherapist trained in Transactional Analysis accredited by COSCA. I am a member of BICA (British Infertility Counselling Association) and I have trained with the Foundation for Infant Loss.
I specialise in trauma informed therapy with an interest in fertility issues and those living with chronic illness. I am based in Edinburgh and West Lothian, as well as online, by telephone, and through walk-and-talk therapy in nature.
I know how significant it can feel to reach out for support. Therapy has been life-changing in my own journey, and I deeply respect the courage it takes to begin. Book a free call today to see if we are a good fit.
Are you navigating fertility struggles, IVF, pregnancy loss or a donor journey?
These experiences can be profoundly impactful, not just physically, but emotionally and identity-wise. Many women describe feeling grief, anxiety, disconnection from their body, or a sense that life has changed in ways others don’t fully see or understand.
I offer a steady, compassionate space to process what you’ve been through, hold the complexity of your emotions, and gently support you in reconnecting with yourself as you move through your fertility journey.
Have pregnancy, birth, or early motherhood felt very different from what you imagined?
Perinatal depression, traumatic birth experiences, and NICU journeys can leave lasting emotional impacts that often go unseen by others. You may find yourself feeling anxious, numb, tearful, hypervigilant, disconnected from your baby, or grieving the experience you thought you would have.
Perhaps you’re carrying difficult memories of birth, struggling with the demands of motherhood, or trying to make sense of the fear and uncertainty that comes with neonatal care.
I offer a safe, thoughtful space to explore what you’ve been through, honour the complexity of your experience, and support you in reconnecting with yourself during this profoundly vulnerable time. Together, we can work gently and at your pace, helping you process trauma, navigate emotional overwhelm, and move toward greater confidence, connection, and emotional wellbeing.
Do you look fine on the outside while your body feels anything but?
Living with chronic illness, fatigue, autoimmune conditions, fertility challenges, hormonal changes, or difficult medical experiences can leave you feeling exhausted, misunderstood, and disconnected from the body you once trusted.
Many women I work with have spent years pushing through, masking symptoms, or feeling dismissed by healthcare systems.
Therapy offers a space to process what your body and nervous system may have been carrying, rebuild self-trust, and find ways of living that feel more sustainable, compassionate, and connected.
Do you find yourself always on alert, overthinking conversations, struggling to switch off, or shutting down when things feel too much?
Trauma isn’t always one obvious event. Sometimes it comes from years of adapting, staying strong, feeling unseen, or learning that your needs weren’t always safe to express.
Together, we can gently explore what your mind and body have been carrying, helping you understand your patterns, regulate your nervous system, and build a deeper sense of safety, clarity, and self-trust.
